About

My love and appreciation of fishing, hunting, and the outdoors was instilled in me from a very young age from my hero and mentor, my father. While growing up my family lived on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA. I wasn't into sports and instead focused my time on fishing and hunting.Much of what we caught on Lake Quinsig was trout, bass, sunfish, and carp. I once caught a 30 pound carp on an ultra light spinning rod fitted with a 4 pound test line, a #14 hook, and one kernel of corn. This is where my love of light tackle fishing began. Many of our weekends were spent either at the Cape or up in Vermont.

I started fly fishing about 22 years ago and started making rods about 4 years ago. I began building custom rods when I realized that I couldn't afford all of the ones that I wanted. Eventually I started building them not only for myself but also family and friends...apparently I have quite a few friends. I am self taught, not only in the field of building rods but also in casting. I must be a slow learner because it took forever for me to figure out the casting aspect. In addition to building rods I also learned to tie my own flies by reading books and attending New England Fly Tyers. Most of my first flies looked like bugs that had hit a windshield but surprisingly some of them caught fish. I tie a decent amount of my own flies.

I mostly fish catch and release, however if there is a striped bass that insist of joining me for dinner, I'm not going to turn them away. Visit my "Fish On" page to check out the places I've "hooked-up" and the ones I hope to "hook-up" at in the future.
